A state-licensed day program where adults with special needs learn, grow, and belong
Helping Hands of Duncanville has been part of the special needs community since 2013. We are a state-licensed ISS DayHab facility, operated under the corporate name Life Skills Centers for Adults, caring for the most special members of our community.
ISS — Individualized Skills and Socialization — is the Texas Health and Human Services program that replaced traditional day habilitation. It gives adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities a structured day of learning, activities, and real time out in the community, built around each person’s own goals and abilities.
We believe in encouraging our friends to be themselves and to achieve as much as they can within their skill set. A consistent schedule is the beginning of a happier, more stable relationship between our clients and the community around them — from the people in their household to the cashier at the store.
What a day at Helping Hands looks like
- Activities planned ahead each month, with a monthly calendar families can see in advance
- Morning exercise classes
- On-site activities at our Duncanville center, including in-house haircuts
- Weekly award ceremonies celebrating our friends’ progress
- W.O.W. off-site field trips — our clients do activities side by side with the general public, doing the same things everyone else does, because being part of the community is the whole point
- Therapy services — OT, PT, Speech, and behavior therapy — available through our sister company, Dynamic Therapy
Who we serve
We welcome clients with varying ability ranges — from wheelchair bound and non-verbal, to clients who need personal care such as diaper changing, and up. All are welcome with open arms.
Our staff exceeds the state-mandated training requirements, including CPR, Abuse/Neglect/Exploitation (A.N.E.) training, medication training, and more. Our staff can take care of almost any needs of our friends.

Helping Hands of Duncanville accepts the following funding sources:

- Private Pay

How to enroll
Getting started is simple:
- We give the prospective client and family a tour.
- We give the families an intake packet.
- We ask the families which funding source they are using.
- Once we get the funding source, we will contact the funding source to get the appropriate paperwork.
- Once we receive the paperwork, we will call and notify the family when they can start.
